Details: Job SummaryThe Supervisor of Student Accounting will be responsible for the direct day to day supervision of the EDMC Online Higher Education (EDMC-OHE) Student Accounting group in accordance with the institution's accounting and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) guidelines. The Supervisor will assist the Director of Student Accounting in the supervision of the staff and assure accurate & quality billing and tuition, management of and striving for the reduction in past due receivables, insuring accurate, timely, and compliant daily deposits, and resolution of student billing issues. The supervisor will assist in providing training and generation of both periodic and ad hoc reports for the management of the department. The supervisor will also help lead quality customer service in the Student Accounting group and total compliance related to all SOX directives related to Student Accounting. Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position. Key Job Elements Manage and lead student accounting team. Ensure that EDMC student accounting is compliant with all SOX directives and with generally accepted accounting principles. Drive quality, customer service, compliance, and productivity initiatives through to practice under the direction of the Director. Resolve student issues under the direction of the Director of Student Accounting and/or Vice President. Monitor in-school accounts receivables aging analysis to minimize past due balances and bad debt. Also monitor the consistent and timely follow-up on past due in-school receivables and ensures the accurate and proper recording of student contact and follow-up. Monitor the daily cash deposit activity to ensure the timely and accurate deposits as well as maintaining the cash reconciliation with bank statements. Provide accurate and timely adjusting journal entries. Assist the Director of Student Accounting in generating timely AR reports and graphs tracking the receivables performance. Assist in the training of Student Accounting staff and generation and update of the procedure manual. Assist in the timeliness and accuracy of refunds by conducting spot audits.
